Quality of Life & Public Safety
To attract and retain talent—especially for anchor institutions like Centra Health, Framatome, and BWXT—Lynchburg must offer a premier quality of life and reliable public safety.
Invest in Downtown and Cultural AssetsLarge employers rely on a vibrant downtown, the Academy Center of the Arts, the Blackwater Creek Trail, and local restaurants to recruit top talent. I will champion continued strategic investment in these areas as an economic necessity, not a luxury.
Local Public Safety Over National PoliticsKeep the Lynchburg Police Department focused on local community policing rather than being dragged into federal immigration enforcement. The city should prioritize filling the 50+ vacant police officer positions and ensuring competitive pay escalation to retain officers, rather than pursuing polarizing, unfunded national programs like the 287(g) ICE agreement.
