WATER DOG DAVE

It’s easy to lead when things are going well. Dave built a community staple when everyone else said it was a ghost town.

You might know Dave as the guy behind The Water Dog, but you might not know the story of how it got built. Back in 2016, investing capital into downtown Lynchburg was a massive gamble. But Dave saw the potential of our city when others just saw empty buildings. He knows what it takes to navigate city zoning, secure permits, sign paychecks, and actually build a thriving business from scratch. Now, he is bringing that exact same builder's mindset to City Hall to revitalize every neighborhood in Lynchburg.

Let’s grow this city!

Since Dave has been young, he has always heard about how much potential Lynchburg has. He has heard about why Lynchburg has not been uncovered as the new gem of the South. It is time to stop talking about what we are missing and start focusing on how to get it.

City Council is about building and leading the city from where it is today to where its citizens wish it were. Dave has been there and done that. He has done the job as a private citizen and much to his family and friend’s begging, he is ready to step into the public eye and help Lynchburg become its best version of itself.

Water Dog Dave believes in more than just beer:

Restoring the LCS Gold Standard

We shouldn't just "manage the decline" of Lynchburg City Schools; we must engineer a renaissance. Dave will fight to compensate our teachers competitively, put real educators, not algorithms, back in charge of the lessons, and ensure that classroom technology is an aid, not the primary avenue for learning.

Main Street, Not Empty Streets

Dave knows exactly what it takes to open a business here. He will make Lynchburg relentlessly business-friendly by cutting taxes and offering targeted consulting for local startups, while actively pressuring absentee landlords to stop sitting on vacant properties so we can finally fill our downtown storefronts.

Tear Down the Red Tape

We can't solve our housing crisis if we make it impossible to build. Dave will overhaul outdated zoning laws to eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy, streamline the permit process for smart, dense infill, and make it radically easier for homeowners and developers to breathe new life into our historic neighborhoods.
